What is your dream?

Some people may have a difficult time answering this question. In years past, I would shrug my shoulders or silently stare off into the distance. When asked of my dreams, it would feel as though I was standing before a huge audience with a microphone and knocking knees behind a podium. A lack of confidence was my greatest hindrance. Past disappointments really hit me hard.

Some are challenged because they lack clarity of their dreams. For anyone that has a difficult time sharing their dream, Maxwell suggest the following:

• Read and study in areas of your greatest interest.
• Engage in activities related to your interests.
• Put up pictures of people and things that inspire you.
• Read about and try to meet people you admire and who inspire you.
• Get your body in optimal shape to pursue your dream.
• Seek supernatural help for a bigger-than-self dream.

After spending some time thinking through these points answer the following questions to help you get better acquainted with your dreams and boost your confidence to share and pursue your dreams.

• What would I do if I had no limitations?
• What would I do if I had only five years to live?
• What would I do if I had unlimited resources?
• What would I do if I knew I couldn’t fail?
• What are my gifts?
• What are five things I like about myself?
• What people make me feel special?
• What moment of personal triumph do I remember?

Now can I ask you a question? What is your dream?

Put Your Dreams To The Test (Intro+Chapter 1)

Dr. John Maxwell defines dreams as an inspiring picture of the future that energizes your mind, will, and emotions, empowering you to do something you can to achieve it. I am reminded of moments that I enjoyed while embracing the dreams that I am currently pursuing, dreams that will allow me to increase community development through evangelism and entrepreneurship. I remember my smiles, the joy that was imparted, the drive that was provoked, and the sense of confidence and courage to approach a calling that is far greater than myself.

I want to thank God for the dream he has given me. I am so grateful that he would empower me to speak out my mouth for the manifestation of things in my spirit and for the intellect to write the vision. God is so awesome in that he speaks to us and inspires an imagination.

God has created a field for our imaginations. In Genesis 2:19-20, the bible says the Lord formed every beast of the field and every fowl of the air and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them: and Adam gave them names. Just as Adam demonstrated, we all are blessed with a degree of imagination to perceive and name what he the Lord has provided.

Some people pursue dreams that have been conceived with little effort. Others are inspired by dreams that are experienced after several attempts toward success in different areas. Arnold Schwarzenegger is living out the life that he dreamed and shared with others in his youth. He practiced to play several instruments under his parents conviction. Then he tried sports. While playing soccer, his coach asked him to lift weights for conditioning. Finally Schwarzenegger found his passion and the rest is history. By being obedient, Arnold come into a meaningful life that he is committed to and enthusiastic about. After much investment in his strengths; California now has a governor that can barely speak English.

If you find your passion, investment in your dreams, and work on your strengths, your weaknesses can't stop you from seeing your dreams come to past with the Lord on your side.

Miracles

God is a miracle worker. This video reminded me of the Lord's power and my expectation for miracles have increased in my heart.

I am maturing!

Looking back through 2009, I see some areas where I have grown. I am happy to say that I am stronger now than I was at the start of 2009. I am more patient now. I am better at waiting on the blessings of the Lord. I am more open to His work and the timing on the Lord. I used to get frustrated when things didn't happen fast. I would be frustrated at myself, always thinking that I was the problem. Now I see things differently.

I think of Moses on this topic. Moses went to Pharaoh 10 times speaking exactly what the Lord told him. He saw miracles along the way but it took some time before the children of Israel were delivered from bondage. Maybe someone else can relate. You have been faithful and obedient. You have seen miracles but you haven't realized the thing that you are really waiting on, the great deliverance that is going to change your life. You confronted the devil face-to-face, walking in the power of the Holy Ghost but you aren't getting the results that the Lord told you about. Now, you are feeling inadequate or ineffective.

The Lord encouraged me. His deliverance is sure, He will do as promised. Deliverance is in the Lord's hands and His performance is at His time. So for anyone that is feeling down, trying to figure out why things aren't happening, and pointing at themselves - get this, It just ain't time yet. But he encouraged, Your Time Is Coming! There is a set time for promise of the Lord. You don't have enough power to stop the Lord from blessing you. You can't make a mistake big enough to wipe out the plans of the Lord. The Lord has a promise for all of His children. It is in His will to bless us for His own glory and he can't deny himself.

If we look within ourselves and see growth, we should shout and testify.

Awkward?

I have seen and heard about some crazy things that happened in church. One Sunday, we had a powerful young preacher going forth, in the power of the Holy Ghost. He preached real good and then he begin to give prophetic words to the saints. He also walked the isles, laying hands. As he laid his hands on one sister, I noticed something a little different. It looked like he was straining a little, but not much. But is was just different enough to make me go, hummm. And then I went back to praising the Lord and praying for others.

After the service, we went to dinner with the preacher. He began to talk about a very awkward moment for him. As he laid his hand on the head of the sister that my attention was drawn to, he said that her weave or wig began to slide back. As he fights to stay spiritual, he struggled to keep her hair in place. This moment lasted for maybe 2 minutes. We almost got kicked out of Red Lobster because of the noise of our laughter and the sounds of beating on tables. I know that I am not the only one that has seen or heard about something crazy or funny, or something awkward.

How did you bring in 2010?

Happy Hew Year everyone. I hope that you enjoyed yourself like I did. I have a great time at my church, Apostolic House of Prayer. I sang praises to God, I testified, I ran, I danced, I jumped, and I prayed my way into 2010. I also gave a special offering. I rejoiced with all the saints and had good fellowship. I cracked jokes with some and got to know others better. I just had a real good time.
I know that some Christians went out to clubs. Some stayed in their homes with family. If you ask 100 people this one question, you will get a lot of different answers - How should saints celebrate on New Years Eve? What do you say?

What's the Word?

Soon our pastors and television evangelist will announce a catchy phrase; a statement of faith for the year of 2010. Remember 2007 was the year of New Beginnings. Then again, other ministers preached that 2008 was The Year of New Beginnings. At the start of 2009, I heard a few saints say – It's mine in 09.

I am willing believe that God has put something good in your spirit. If you had a spot on TBN or AM 1390 radio, what would you say? If you had the platform to speak for the body of Christ, what word would you speak? I say 2010 is the Year of the Harvest. I have been sowing in good ground. I have been planting seeds over the years. I have shouted and danced over the sight of the buds. I have cried during the time of pruning. Those that sow in tears will reap in joy. Now I anticipate a great harvest. I will be blessed in a greater measure. I will sing and dance as the Lord blesses me through the former and the later rain. Now, I want to hear from you. What would you say is the theme for 2010?
